Does Your Company See Value In Sustainable Practices?

How About Your Current or Desired Customer?

Or, Your Employees?

Where is the disconnect?  We can help.

I don’t think anyone will deny that there is a lot of attention being paid to environmental topics; organic, recycled.... sustainable material.  Desire for non-toxic materials.  Biobased material.

So why are there so few products and they are mostly from the very large companies or the niche players?  There is a high interest in more information on the how, when and where of bioplastics.  Will it meet my performance requirements?  Is it available in the quantities in need?  How will the pricing impact my costs?  And, will it help me increase market share with the positive messaging?

Converting your plastic packaging to bioplastics and using materials with plant based materials and putting an emphasis on recycled material could be a well-received message in the market.   The growth in demand for bioplastics is being driven by consumer preference for sustainable materials.

A USDA-certified biobased plastic that’s incredibly versatile and capable of withstanding high temperatures, starch-based composites are suitable for either rigid or pliable plastic applications.

Starch-based biodegradables can help decrease landfill volumes and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. They are ideal for single-use disposable products.

Potential benefits of biobased bioplastics are numerous. The specific benefits of a bioplastic, from an overall environmental standpoint, should be determined through a life cycle assessment (LCA) or other data gathering and analysis tool that broadly assesses environmental benefits and burdens. Typical benefits can include:

-       reduction of fossil fuel usage;

-       reduction of carbon footprint; or

-       reduction of global warming potential (GWP),

-       or any combination thereof
